Bama is playing FSU today in Jax. I've got tickets, and am headed to the tailgate in a couple hours. Drove to Chick-fil-a for a little breakfast this morning and had someone honk at me on the highway and give me the Roll Tide sign. Good times.

I wrote about making a IR->RF->IR transmitter system for eTTL flashes a while ago. I'm loving the fact that it looks like someone is actively working on a similar concept. It's called Radio Popper and it should be out before too long.

I just heard an Otis Taylor track that I didn't know I had. I think it came from a SXSW music sampler, but I'm not sure. The track is "Please Come Home Before It Rains". It's awesome. You can check out a sample from amazon here. It's been a while since I've really had a chance to explore new music. Or, more to the point, since I have taken the time to do it. I'm jones for some new stuff now. Probably will end up signing back up for that yahoo subscription service. In the mean time, I'm going to play this track a lot.

Check out this video of the President and notice the alien reflection in the window pane over his right shoulder. (found via boing boing.)

Airplane sign hack

My flight back from ATL last night was on a Boeing 767-300. These aircraft have three rows of seats in the main cabin. Two seats for the outside rows and three in the middle. As you enter the plane, the first two rows are "A" and "B". The middle seats are "C", "D" and "E" with the "F" and "G" making up the last row. I've been on these flights enough that this is in the back of my brain but a standard for most passengers I've seen is when they enter the plane, the ask the flight attendant which aisle they need to go down to get to their seat. Last night, I saw a great little hack. One of the flight attendants drew a little diagram with a note saying that you could get to the A, B, C and D seats from the first aisle while E, F, and G where the second one. I mentioned that I thought it was a great idea, and she said that it really seemed to help. It was in the perfect place. Just as soon as the passenger realizes they need to make an aisle decision this little sign was there. I wish I had snagged a picture, but I had already stowed my camera.

I've always liked the idea of having something like an RV to travel around in. Going to Bama games and general traveling both being high on the list of things I'd like to do a little later in life. I've always thought that the hassle of a full size RV would be more than I would want to deal with and that something like a full size van would be ideal. Today, I found the site this site listed on Cool Tools. The company make customizations to vans to set them up for "luxurious travel homes, and for many other uses". They even promote their vans directly to photographers. I can totally see myself getting one of these with or without a lottery win.

Sept. 11 flight

I flew up to ATL on Tuesday of this week which was Sept. 11. It was a little odd to fly on that day, but by and large I didn't sense any more tension on the flight than normal. Even with a completely full plane. Only thing I noticed was a few extra security guards outside the jax airport.
