Three degrees of IM seperation

AOL has a little page up called AIMFight that shows you the number of people connected to you through three degrees of buddy list seperation. I don't even know what number I would have guessed if asked, but turns out that I have ~27,000 connections right now. I use it a lot because of work, but that's insane. Of course, a certain LA friend has ~53,000 and is in the top 5%. That's a lot of folks… and I don't really like talking to people unless it's face to face. Guess I'm in the wrong field for that.

Another sign that the internaet is cool. You can learn the answer to age old questions like, "What the hell's the difference between Jelly and Jam?" Answer, the form the fruit takes.

Nostradamus Cell Phone Gremlin

I think my cell phone can see the future and is possessed my a gremlin. The batter ran all the way down last night for probably the first time since I've had the phone. So, I plugged it back in before I went to bed, but when I did, I didn't turn it back on. Then, early this morning (before I get up on Sundays) we had a problem with the site and I got the call (even though this particular call should have gone to someone else). I get up a couple hours later and have 6 messages as soon as I turn the phone on…. I haven't gotten a weekend emergency call in months and I really am not sure if my cell phone has been down in years. So, of course, those two things happen in the same 12 hour period and make me look like a bit of an ass.

Well, not really Western for some people, but I figure since this was taken in Key West, it counts. Went down there over the weekend for a friends birthday. On the way back I heard rumors of snow in other places. This makes the fact that it was a little cool in the Keys okay, I suppose. KeyWestSunset The trip, not surprisingly, was a bender. I'm actually sore from drinking. Hell, I even danced while there which is very out of character.

I don't know what's up with the spam engine we have at work, but I got four copies of the same e-mail today. One got marked as spam, the other three didn't…. The sending address appears to be the only thing different. Before then, if I had had to guess, I would have thought that duplications would all end up in the same place.

Nice idea: liveplasma.com Put in the name of an artist or movie you like and it'll show you related stuff based off of Amazon's sales list. Amazon opened an API to their database which is awesome because it allows people to come up with cool shit like this.

Tune up

Just took my little car into the shop to get the timing belt changed and a good tune up done. My last timing belt broke at around 80,000 miles. So, I figure since I'm at 165,000 it's about time again. The little camry is purring like a kitten now. I'm so impressed with the enginering of that car, and I love the fact that it was designed for longevity instead of obsolessense. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself here, but the only thing I've really done to it is change the oil and replace the timing belt the first time it broke. Oh yeah. and I've been thru a lot of tires. Now, all I need to do is figure out if I want to upgrade the stero and speakers again…..
